So I just got back from a 3 week stay in Brazil, it was pretty much amazing and we met some amazing artists who do alot of incredible social work in rural Brazil as well as urban 'slums' which are called favelas.

This is from Roberto Burle Marx's estate, he collected exotic and rare plants his whole life and planted them in his gardens on this huge property he owned near Rio. It's literally the garden of Eden, it was beyond incredible...I wanna get married there.

Project Morrinho was a piece started by brothers living in a favela who wanted to do something with their free time that didn't involve gangs or drugs, so they started this giant representation of their own lives. They are grown now, and show all over the world, they still keep up the orginal though, and now other kids play there as well. We went there after a flood, so it wasn't it's full glory, but check out their site!

This is work by Monica Nador who works with favelas in Sao Paulo, using stencil art to repaint houses and help the residents feel proud of where they live.

This is Kelly White's weaving studio, just outside of Sao Paulo. He works both in rural communities teaching weaving skills (which the new weavers use to make blinds which he sells through his company) and also tries to save the rain-forest, his studio is also completely green and make out of dirt and synthetic termite spit!

The Wire Opera House in Curitiba, Curitiba is and has been the world model for a sustainable city for decades...
yup...so those are some of my trip highlights!
